The holy grail of drone navigation: no GPS required.
EVM is developing navigation that lets a drone know where it is using its own camera and onboard AI. No satellites, no ground stations, nothing to jam. Built in the UK to fit the drones manufacturers already make.
Drones depend on a signal that is easy to lose.
Almost every drone relies on GPS to know where it is. When that signal is jammed, spoofed, or simply not available, the drone drifts, gets lost, or has to come home. That is now a daily reality in many parts of the world, and it limits what drones can safely do everywhere else.
A compact navigation module that sees where it is.
Our system compares what the drone's camera sees with what it expects to see, and works out its position on board, in real time. The principle has been understood for a decade. Our contribution is turning it into a small, affordable product that drone makers can simply fit.
Works without GPS
Position comes from the camera and onboard processing, so the drone keeps its bearings when satellite signals drop out.
Resistant to RF jamming
The module doesn't need to receive any radio signal to navigate, so there is very little to interfere with.
Made for manufacturers
Designed as a drop-in subsystem for drone makers, working alongside standard open autopilots such as PX4 and ArduPilot.
From the lab into the air.
Prototype built
Navigation software running on test imagery and our own camera hardware.
First test flight
Flying the system on a test drone for the first time.
Partner trials
Field trials with drone manufacturers, leading to integration into their platforms.
Decades of putting cameras where others can't.
EVM comes from the team behind EV Offshore, which spent 25 years building cameras for some of the harshest environments on earth, deep inside oil and gas wells, before being acquired in 2024. We are now applying that imaging experience, and AI, to navigation.
- 35+years of camera and imaging engineering
- UKdesign, development and testing
- AIonboard machine learning for image matching
We are raising our first round.
